Turn a screenshot, a photo of a page or a scanned receipt into text you can copy, edit and search. The text recognition runs on your own computer, so private documents stay private.

How to copy text from an image (OCR)

  1. Drop screenshots or photos of text into the box above, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
  2. Press Get text. The first run loads the reader once (about 7 MB), then each picture takes a few seconds.
  3. Copy the text, or save it as a .txt file.

Private by design

Boltly runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your own computer and are never uploaded, so it is safe for IDs, contracts and family photos.

Questions

Which languages does it read?

English for now. Tell us on the ideas board which language you need next.

Is my picture uploaded?

No. The text recognition (Tesseract) runs inside your browser on your own device.

How accurate is it?

Very good on screenshots and clear photos of printed text. Handwriting and blurry or tilted photos are harder; each result shows a confidence score.
